CHEST PLATE
The chest plate was made using a Radio Shack 5" x 7" project
box. I know his chest plate is actually 6" x 6", but here in lower
Alabama, finding parts isn't always the easiest thing to do.
Each rod is just 3 - # 10 washers, 2 - 1/8 stereo plug housings
(silver metal from Radio Shack), and 6" of 1/4" cold roll rods I got from
Lowe's. All I did was cut one stereo plug cover into 3 pieces and enlarge
the hole slightly on the # 10 washers, and JB welded it all together. To
attach them to the box, I hot glued the base to the box and used carpet thread
around the washers and went through the box, melting holes with a needle heated
up. After tying down the rods at the washers, I did it again at the
base. With the rods glued down, and stitched down, they won't come off
easy.
The lights were purchased from
Allied Electronics
. They are 120 Vac indicator lights, and I removed the 120 Vac lights and replaced them with red
LED's. The Allied PN is 931-3201. To make the lights flash, each LED
has its own 555 timer circuit connected to it, all running off of 1 - 9 VDC
battery.
The switches on the front are just 4 Radio Shack red rocker
switches. I painted 3 of them white. The switched do work, and the
red on is main power for the whole plate. I am planning in the future to
add a voice changer, and the circuitry will be housed in the chest plate.
Soon I will add the Chest Box Schematic link. It shows the schematic for the lights on the
chset box, and it also has the information to create a repetative breathing cycle.
